Barnet FC through their Football in the Community programme works closely with local partners for the benefit of our community. Every now and then we like to spread our wings and try to help further afield, this time it's Rwanda.

Naz Goddard, Head of Underhill Juniors is in Rwanda this week, where educationalists from the UK are helping out in local schools and raising awareness of the plight of the people in Rwanda.

Naz will have the opportunity to exchange her expertise, passing on her favourite teaching tips, she will get the opportunity to learn from disabled children about the inclusion of disabled children in local schools and she will get to share in their lives, as the visitors will live with the teachers in Rwanda for the week.

On her return, Naz will impart her knowledge and experience to the children of Underhill School and hopefully with those on the Kickz project.

Naz was looking for football kit to take with her on her trip to Rwanda as football is the international language, and Pinnacle Youth FC kindly donated some used kit to Naz for her trip, so our thanks to them. Barnet FC has donated a signed shirt to help in the fundraising.

Naz and her team at Underhill School are key partners to the delivery of Kickz project in Barnet. We are exploring ways with Handicapped International to help further, and may be looking for more used football kit sometime in the future, so watch this space.

About Handicap International

Handicap International is an international development organisation focusing on issues around disability and inclusion. Our vision is of a world where all disabled people can fully access and exercise their human rights. Handicap International is member of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE). This year's GCE Action Week will focus on ending exclusion and providing quality Education for All.
In Rwanda, our Inclusive Education project aims to increase the number of disabled children accessing quality and relevant education. Currently education for disabled children is mainly offered in segregated environments such as special schools and centres. The project aims to build the capacity of local partners working with disabled children to provide advice, support and information to the community on inclusion in education. Home school links are also strengthened by regular home visits in which parents, families and siblings receive information and advice about disability and education issues. www.handicap-international.org
