PLAYERS IN THE COMMUNITY

Posted on: Fri 19 Dec 2008

Barnet Football in the Community have teamed up with Sport Unlimited and the Winter of Sport to provide free street dance sessions for boys and girls.

The sessions are taught by qualified instructors, with enhanced CRB checks, and the sessions shall run for 10 weeks, starting Wednesday January 7, at Underhill Junior School. Ages 8 and 9 will be from 6-7pm and ages 10 and 11 from 7:15-8:15pm.

Places are limited, so children need to book to avoid disappointment.

Barnet players have been busily involved in community work in the past week:-

1) On-loan central defender MICHAEL TOWNSEND can be seen at Chalgrove Primary, Finchley, presenting certificates to children from KS1 and years 5 and 6 who had taken part in football after school clubs. He also did a brief question and answer session during the school assembly as well as signing autographs.

2) DANNY HART went to the Underhill Junior School's Christmas Fair. Danny interacted with children, parents and grandparents. He also helped raise money for the school by selling football cards to people who attended.

3) Assistant manager IAN HENDON and club captain LEE HARRISON went to the Finchley Catholic High School careers day. They were asked many questions about qualifications, careers and pathways to becoming a footballer.

4) Former player GIULIANO GRAZIOLI, a FITC coach, and HAYLEY JAMES, the FITC development officer, also made an appearance at East Finchley Youth Centre for their Christmas party. Giuliano interacted with the children during lunch and answered any questions that they, parents, youth workers or carers had for him.
