MINISTER OF SPORT PRAISES BFC

Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe has praised Barnet FC for their part in making the groundbreaking Kickz football project such a successful programme.

He said: "I want to congratulate Barnet FCs community staff and their local partners for their work in making Kickz the success story it is".

Barnet currently have more than 300 people registered to the Kickz project, which is run at Underhill School. Young people from Barnet Kickz were recently crowned national champions in the U16s category in a tournament at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Kickz scopped the Community Programme award at the recent national Sport Industry Award 2009.

Janet Matthewson, Barnet's Community Scheme manager, says: "This type of project is invaluable to our communities as it engages young people. As a football club it allows us to support and engage the community we serve".

Kickz is NOW operating a cricket coaching session every Monday until the end of June at Barnet Cricket Club, Barnet Lane, .entry behind Barnet FC between 6.00pm - 8.00pm for boys and girls between 12 - 18.
Normal sessions will run on Wednesday & Friday at Underhill School.
