COMMUNITY DAY COUNTDOWN
Posted on: Wed 01 Jul 2009
The new season is nearly upon us. It's hard to realise that Ian Hendon and his squad will be reporting back for training thisThursday and that the traditional pre-season friendly against Arsenal will be played at Underhill on Saturday, July 18.
Another tradition, the Community Day on Sunday 12 July, will feature the annual 20-20 cricket match between the Barnet CC first team and Ian Hendon's side.
Community Day is a chance to meet the players and welcome newcomers who will be wearing the new kit when the Big Kick Off arrives. It's a fallacy that new players have to bat and bowl as well as score goals or defend!
Organiser Janet Matthewson, Barnet's Football in the Community manager, is sticking to the tried and trusted formula that has made Community Day a must outing for supporters, their families and friends.
There will be behind-the-scenes stadium tours, a beat the keeper competition - who will the goalie be? - Punch and Judy, stalls, inflatable games and prize draws.
All the fun of the fair in fact, as Barnet FC opens its doors to show its role in the community.
