COMMUNITY TRUST LINKS WITH PETER JONES

Barnet FC Community Trust partners with Peter Jones National Enterprise Academy

Here at Barnet, we are proud of our track record when it comes to working closely with young people in the local community, which is why we were delighted to team up with the National Enterprise Academy to provide valuable work experience opportunities for their students.

The brainchild of entrepreneur and Dragons' Den star Peter Jones, the National Enterprise Academy is a unique place of learning dedicated to training the next generation of aspiring young entrepreneurs. After hearing about the fantastic work that goes on at the Academy, we were delighted to offer Rob Curie, a student at the Academy, the opportunity to hone his skills during a month-long work experience placement at Underhill stadium.

Hayley James, Sports Development Officer at Barnet F.C. said, "Rob was fantastic when he joined the community relations team here at Barnet. He's displayed a degree confidence and assurance that belies his 18 years. The National Enterprise Academy strikes me as a great idea and we were delighted to host Rob in his work experience placement."

Hayley continued, "Work experience of all kinds equips young people with valuable skills which increase their employability, but the extended month-long placement adds even more value, not only for the student, but also from a business perspective. In his time with us, Rob proved a real addition to our team."

Working within Barnet FC's community relations team, Rob has been exposed to a number of business areas. "I worked with the community football coaching team looking at how they deliver their community coaching schemes. I was also tasked with developing Barnet's birthday party offering", says Rob. "The duration of the work experience is a big positive. I have been on work experience programmes before and they only lasted two weeks. Being with Barnet for almost a month gave me the opportunity to really get to grips with my role and deliver results that make a difference to the business."

Rob continued, "At school you are told about the value of work experience, but often placements don't live up to expectations. At the National Enterprise Academy though, the work consultancy programme is really intensive and I thoroughly enjoyed my amazing experience at Barnet FC."

A totally unique project, The National Enterprise Academy is designed to create real opportunities for 16-19 year olds looking to kick-start their career in the world of business and enterprise.
