VOLUNTEERS ARE REWARDED

Posted on: Sun 15 Aug 2010

The deadline to purchase a hospitality package and join the Underhill 200 club is 18th of August and Barnet's Commercial Manager commented: "This genuinely is a great opportunity for a business to win £70,000 worth of sports marketing, for a relatively small outlay."
As a member of the Underhill 200 Club you are entitled to an entry into an exclusive free draw to win the first prize of becoming the team's home shirt sponsor for the season. Click on the Underhill 200 Club link for more details.

This summer young people of the Kickz project have been committing their time to volunteer on the Trusts soccer schools based at Underhill Cricket Pitch. Conor Maguire 15, Bradley Patterson 16, Mohammed Hassan 15, and Oliver Mboge 16, all local to Underhill, have been shadowing community staff as part of their mentoring initiative. Their roles and duties have included the set up and pack down of sessions, organising children on the courses with age ranges from 3-12 years, delivering warm ups, assisting coaching sessions, tournament organisation, and even helping with Mr Bumble appearances!

The boys reward for their volunteering hours (once turned 16) shall be a FA Level 1 coaching course funded by the Trust. The boys have also been given Barnet FC away shirts courtesy of the Chairman's generosity.

Conor Maguire last week received a new pair of Black and Amber Nike Total 90 boots as reward for his efforts on soccer schools and other projects over the past two years. Conor has completed over 150 voluntary hours with the Trust. He is valued by community staff for his hard work and endeavour to always learn.

Stephen Mills, once a regular member of the Kickz project has now completed his FA Level 1 coaching certificate, funded by the Trust, after volunteering on courses since summer 2009. This summer Stephen has become a paid member of community staff. Stephen is an extremely reliable and mature young man with a bright future ahead of him.
