| RUSSELL SAY WIN WAS GREAT DAY FOR MARINERS |
| Grimsby Town 3 v 0 Barnet Grimsby Boss Russell Slade said it was a great day for the club after his side destroyed Barnet with a three goal first-half blast. Gary Jones netted his ninth and tenth goals of the season and Paul Bolland added a third in a six minute spell. Slade said: "I was very pleased with the result, it was nice to get a few goals in front of our own fans. "We started the game very well and should have scored before we did. We got the first goal at a crucial time and then quickly doubled our advantage. "In the second half we were professional enough but it was not an entertaining spectacle. It was important to keep a clean sheet. "It would've been nice to have won by a few more goals but if I had been asked before the game if I would've taken 3-0 I would've grabbed it with both hands." Barnet boss Paul Fairclough blamed the defeat on a lack of concentration from his players. He said: "It was a difficult day for us but an outstanding victory for Grimsby. The game was over in just six minutes before half-time. "We have not played well and Grimsby looked the more likely to score. I was hoping to get the team in at half-time to make some adjustments but then the game was shot to pieces in a blistering spell. "We made alterations at half-time and then sent on three substitutes in the second half but the game petered out. "I can't really measure our second-half performance because we were playing against a team that were 3-0 up. "We have been getting ourselves into good positions in games and then shooting ourselves in the foot. Our problems come from a lack of concentration". |
