Barnet 0-0 Stockport; Local Report
COUNTY fought for a hard earned draw at fellow strugglers Barnet at Underhill. This result means County need to win at home next week against already promoted Carlisle to guarantee league safety.
After a bright start by the home side, it was County who dominated the first half and should have taken the lead on 17 minutes, but home keeper Ross Flitney somehow kept out Adam Griffin's goal bound effort.
Two minutes later Flitney again denied an almost certain goal, turning behind Michael Raynes' goal bound header.
Into the second half and it was Barnet's turn to dominate, on 52 minutes Spencer had to save from point blank range from a Mickey Bailey header.
Two minutes later Barnet again should have scored, but striker Liam Hatch put the ball well wide when through on goal.
With Barnet firmly on top, County boss Jim Gannon decided he'd seen enough bringing on top scorer Liam Dickinson on the hour.
Yet it was the hosts, kicking down Underhill's slope who continued to have the better of the game. Veteran Andy Hessenthaler, unbelievable at the age of 40 was dominating the midfield and County appeared to have run out of steam.
Dickinson did have a chance to score right at the death, but he could only put the ball well over from six yards out.
