Barnet FC Ladies got its FA Tesco Women's Premier League season off to a winning start with a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium yesterday.
 
Prolific striker Stacey Sowden got the Bees off to the best possible start with a goal inside the opening two minutes and added a second after a quarter of an hour's play. Katie Hodges pulled a goal back for Brighton after 27 minutes.
 
It was a pleasing start for the new-look Bees line-up, which included seven new signings.
