BRAVE BARNET LADIES BOW OUT OF CUP

Posted on: Sun 14 Mar 2010
Barnet Ladies fell at the semi-final hurdle in the FA Women's Cup with a 2-0 defeat by a top flight Everton team at the Southport FC ground - only their second defeat of a memorable season.

Beaten but far from disgraced. That was the story from Haig Avenue. The Bees hit the woodwork through Cheryl Williams in a goal-less first half in which Danielle Murphy and Holly Sandow also had good efforts.

A defensive mistake after 48 minutes led to Everton taking the lead and they later added to the score.

Barnet manager Tracy Kevins paid tribute to the travelling Barnet supporters.

"Absolutely fantastic", she told www.barnetfc.com. "We were unlucky not be be ahead at half time and the supporters just sang and sang non-stop for 90 minutes ... and there were Barnet flags at the Barnet end to encourage our team.

"The support was really appreciated ... it was just a pity we couldn't give them the goal they deserved".
