Barnet FC Ladies Continue Winning Run
Barnet FC Ladies Continue Winning Run &..
Barnet FC Ladies have moved to within two points of the South East Combination League's top two sides, by virtue of impressive back-to-back away wins at Rushden & Diamonds and Leyton Orient in recent weeks.
The Bees travelled to Rushden two weeks ago without leading goalscorer Stacey Sowden, first choice goalkeeper Jess Devoti or inspirational captain Cerrie Byrne. However, such is the strength in depth of the Barnet squad these days, maximum points were gathered thanks to a comfortable 4-0 win.
Danielle Richards gave Barnet the lead after 11 minutes with a spectacular 25-yard strike after she had deftly controlled the ball in midfield and beat two defenders as she advanced on goal. The goal was Barnet's 100th in league and cup matches this season.

Danielle Richards Opened The Scoring Against Rushden
The Bees' effectively secured maximum points two minutes into the second half.Barnet's impressive left back Jo Ginger made a probing run into the Rushden half and fed Beth Curtis. The prolific Barnet forward turned and struck the ball home from the edge of the box to give her side a two-goal lead.
On the hour mark it was 3-0, with Katie O'Donoghue scoring the first of her brace of goals.Danielle Richards and Hayley Johnson were involved in the build up as the latter player provided an inch perfect cross for O'Donoghue to convert at the far post.
Katie O'Donoghue was on hand again to make it 4-0 late in the game.Barnet's left sided midfield player won the ball in the centre of the pitch before passing to Danielle Richards.Richards responded with an excellent return pass, which allowed O'Donoghue to score with an exquisite shot from just inside the Rushden penalty area.

Katie O'Donoghue made it 4-0
Last weekend Barnet made the short journey to Leyton Orient knowing that a win against the team directly below them in the league table would ensure a top three finish in the league this season. The Bees' performance was far from being their best of the season but a determined effort produced a 3-1 win.
After falling a goal behind in the first half, Barnet equalised through Beth Curtis after 21 minutes.Charlotte Herson put the Bees ahead after 33 minutes, with Stacey Sowden making it 3-1 seven minutes before the interval. There was no addition to the score in the second period.
This Sunday (27 February) Barnet FC Ladies are involved in another local derby when they play Queens Park Rangers at Brook House FC, kick-off 2.00pm.
Barnet FC Ladies Reserves extended their unbeaten run on Sunday and climbed to the top of the Reserve League table thanks to a 3-2 home win against Leyton Orient.Kerry O'Connor scored twice, with Sophie Reed also finding the net.
This Sunday Barnet Reserves travel to play Cambridge United in a Reserve Section League Cup match.
