More Honours for the Bees

Daniella Richards, who joined Barnet from Queens Park Rangers last season, was the architect of the convincing 3-0 victory against her former team in the 2005 14th Middlesex County FA women's Senior Cup Final at the North Greenford United ground on Sunday.
After scoring twice early in the second half, Middlesex representative player Danny was substituted so that she could play in another junior final against Watford reserves. She has split her time this season between the Bees' first team and reserves. Kerry O'Connor, the 19-year-old forward who took her place, scored the third Barnet goal.
The champagne corks popped at the presentation ceremony for the latest team in amber and black shirts to collect a trophy and an impressive life-sized Bee cavorted on the pitch and performed impressive celebratory double somersaults. The Bee supporter Susanne Finnis, who is at St Mary's College, Twickenham, with two of the team.
The host club made Barnet Ladies feel at home with a sloping pitch but, even going downwards in a competitive, but uneventful, first half, the Bees were often under pressure and had to rely on goalkeeper Jess Devoti to keep them in the game.
It wasn't until first half stoppage time that Barnet's goal ace Stacey Sowden - 38 goals this season after scoring four against Wembley in her debut in October and notching five other hat-tricks - burst clear and tested the Rangers goalkeeper with a stinging shot that was parried.
Seven minutes after half time Richards changed the complexion of the game by scoring at the second attempt. After an hour Ricxhards made it 2-0 after a good build up by Abi Naughter. Sowden was then the provider for substitute O'Connor.
This completed a hat-trick of victories for the Bees against QPR with Sowden, who attends the Arsenal academy, scoring twice against them last month.
Footnote: No happy ending or second medal for Richards. The reserves lost 6-0 to Watford.
