Barnet's new kit for the season was launched on Friday .... a replica of the 1907 old gold and black striped shirts, with black shorts and black socks, that were worn when football was first played at Underhill 100 years ago.

The players will wear the kit in Saturday's Centenary celebration game against Crystal Palace, who, fittingly, played in the first-ever game at Underhill in September, 1907, which Barnet Alston won 1-0.

A splendid match report for that game, reproduced in the programme for the anniversary match against Palace, said that the Bees had played up the "slight slope" in the first half and that the crowd of around 800 had enjoyed "a good exhibition of footer" ... the best seen in the borough for some time.

The new kit is now available at the club shop and arrangements have been made for sales at Underhill on Saturday.

Michael Leary is pictured at the training ground in black shorts, which will be worn throughout the season.
