Goals from Stephane Seanla, Christian Doyle, Anthony Thomas and Ashley Carew, to counter two goals from Paul Hakim, saw Barnet progress to the next round in the Herts Senior Cup in a victory over Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way this evening.

The home side could have taken the lead in the 15th minute when Rob Beckwith saved a penalty from Hakim but instead ten minutes later a deflected shot from Seanla gave the visitors a one goal advantage.

On the half hour Christian Doyle reacted quickly to a mistake by the Stevenage keeper to double the Bee's advantage. On 68 minutes a powerful shot by Hakim from distance gave Borough a life-line, but Barnet re-established their two goal lead when following an inventive surge into the box by Christian Rickelle a foul on the Barnet player led to a penalty which Thomas duly converted.

It was Hakin who struck again when a well flighted free-kick was deftly headed into the Barnet net by the Stevenage striker , but two minutes from time Carew scored a splendid solo goal to give the score-line a true reflection of Barnet's superiority.

Particular plus points for the Bees tonight was the impressive Rickelle at right back who showed that he can attack and defend, a central midfield display by Joe Tabiri who broke up play and used the ball well, and up front Doyle worked hard with no little skill and took his goal in the fashion of a natural goals corer.
