WARE UP FOR CUP AND BEES ARE OUT
A Barnet XI that had nine players in the starting line up that have League experience were convincingly beaten 4-1 by Ware tonight in the quarter final of the Herts Senior Cup. As holders of the Cup Barnet can have no complaints about being knocked out by the Ryman League outfit.
However such was the Bees early dominance that it was no surprise when Barnet took an 18th minute lead through skipper for the night Adam Birchall who finished clinically a Michael Leary through ball.
Once Ware got back into the game when Steve Horsey, although quite possibly in an offside position, took the ball round Lee Harrison in the 32nd minute to level the scores the home side began to take control of the tie.
Ware were 2-1 to the good at half time due to John Frendo drilling a powerful left footed shot into the bottom corner of the Bees net five minutes before the break.
Ware kicking with the advantage of their slope in the second half were in no mood to relinquish their lead and as the half progressed the visitors looked increasingly unable to impose themselves on the game.
A second goal from Frendo on 65 minutes, a well taken strike that showed considerable composure and a goal from Scott Nielson, who displayed a great piece of individual skill in a tight area, put the seal on a fine victory for Ware and the 4-1 scoreline tells it's own story..
Not a night to remember, but a performance that will not easily be forgotten.
