SIX PLAYERS MISSING

Posted on: Thu 24 Apr 2008
Experienced man -of -many clubs Sagi Burton is having a scan to see if he needs an operation on a knee ligament injury as Paul Fairclough faces mounting injury problems ahead of Saturday's final home game of the season against promotion-hopeful Stockport County.

With skipper Ismail Yakubu and Joe Devera already ruled out for the final games, the likely absence of 31-year-old Burton, who joined the Bees from Shrewsbury Town last summer, gives the manager a headache.

One possible candidate to partner new captain Michael Leary at the heart of the defence, could have been equally experienced Ian Hendon, but the 36-year-old assistant manager also requires a scan on the ankle ligament injury he collected at the training ground that put him on crutches early this month.

Neal Bishop, stretchered off at Accrington Stanley with a knee ligament injury, and goalkeeper Rob Beckwith (hamstring) are also ruled out for the season.

Cliff Akurang could come into contention as a stand-in defender the way things are looking.
