APOLOGY AFTER TANNOY 'ERROR'

Barnet FC has apologised to Stockport County for an "unfortunate error-of-judgement" announcement just before half time on Saturday of Hereford United's two-goal advantage at Brentford.
The announcement, albeit at the request of Stockport supporters, upset most of the 993 visiting supporters at Underhill as County were vying with Hereford for an automatic promotion place before the game.
Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous and director Andrew Adie, equally surprised by the announcement, both immediately apologised to the Stockport chairman - and sent messages to the tannoy room not to relay any scores in isolation from Griffin Park. The announcer also publicly apologised for the error during the interval.
Club spokesman Dennis Signy said: "We correctly dealt with the matter and made sure that it didn't happen again and it is a shame that the announcement was pursued at the post-match Press conference, on websites and on phone-ins and has tended to overshadow a cracking game of football.
"The announcement had no bearing on the result. Barnet, minus six injured first teamers, completed a fine double over a top side with two stunning goals.
"Barnet has always enjoyed a good relationship with Stockport and it is regrettable to read disparaging remarks from their manager saying that we are an unprofessional club who are going nowhere as their directors accepted our prompt action and apologies"
