Posted on: Sun 18 May 2008
Anthony Thomas, the 25 - year - old striker who was one of three players released by Paul Fairclough, is set to join Blue Square Premier outfit Stevenage Borough.
The decision to release Thomas, Giuliano Grazioli and Sagi Burton was taken weeks ago, but www.barnetfc.com held back the news about the younger striker to give the manager a chance to tell him his decision not to take up his option.
When he failed to contact Thomas, it was decided to announce the release at the same time as the retained list was required this weekend.
The Stevenage website, announcing that Thomas was to join, said that Barnet had not taken up his option.
Thomas scored four goals in 15 starts (and 17 more as a substitute) for the Bees after signing from Hemel Hempstead Town last summer after scoring 77 times in two seasons.
It was decide that Thomas did not fit into Fairclough's plans for a promotion push next season.
