A TALL STORY
Posted on: Fri 01 Aug 2008
A united nations of Barnet Xl had to settle for a share of the spoils when Wingate & Finchley of the Ryman League Division One (North) snatched a late equaliser in a low key encounter this evening.
Issa Tall gave the Bees a lead just before half time when he bundled over the line a corner that the home side had failed to adequately deal with.
Lee Harrison and Joe Tabiri were the only players to make an appearance who have been issued with a squad number for the forthcoming season with the line up featuring players from far and wide who were eager to impress; but unsurprisingly as a unit they found it difficult to operate coherently.
With only five minutes remaining Daniel Stanton drilled a well struck shot through a forest of players and past Lee Harrison to give the home fans something to cheer about.
The crowd for the match was much larger than for a normal Wingate & Finchley home game, swelled by many sporting their amber and black colours.
None of the more experienced players on the bench were called upon, and are therefore fresh should they be asked to play at Harrow Borough tomorrow night.
