Aswad Thomas, the Charlton Athletic left sided defender who celebrated his 19th birthday earlier this month, is joining Barnet on loan until September 13 from tomorrow.

 

Thomas, who has twice been on the bench for Charlton but has not yet made his debut, has been training with the Bees this week and, with Kenny Gillet suspended for three games, has been signed as cover. He will join the squad for the League 2 visit to Rochdale.

 

Thomas joined League 2 rivals Accrington Stanley on loan last January and made 13 appearances for the Lancashire club. He scored twice against Chester City, ironically Barnet's opponents on August 30 during his loan period.
