THOMAS TO MAKE DEBUT

Posted on: Fri 22 Aug 2008
Aswad Thomas, the 19-year-old left sided defender from Charlton Athletic who Paul Fairclough has brought in on loan in the absence of the suspended Kenny Gillet, makes his debut in the starting line-up in the London Derby against Brentford at Underhill.

The manager also whetted the appetites of supporters, with the transfer window closing on September 1, by announcing that he was looking at a former Inter Milan forward who has played in Serie A next week.

Thomas, who was on the bench at Rochdale last weekend, has twice been a substitute for Charlton but has yet to make his debut for Alan Pardew's Championship side. He played 13 games on loan with League 2 rivals Accrington Stanley last season, scoring twice against Chester City, Barnet's next opponents after Brentford.

Jeremy de Magalhaes, the 24-year-old central defender from FC Cannes who signed for Barnet in midweek, is unavailable to join the squad this weekend as international clearance is sought.
