Physiotherapist Mark Stein, who scored 246 goals in a 19-year career that took in 10 different clubs, says of the Bees: "If we can keep a fit squad this season then we can push for the play-offs ... so all the pressure is on me".
Stein, who attracts more media attention than any of the players he treats because of his transition from marksman to physio, tells the Football League website: "I loved playing football. The thrill of scoring a goal simply cannot be matched".
He began thinking of a career when he stopped playing three years before he retired in 2003 after leaving Dagenham & Redbridge. He began work on a full-time three year university course. His break came at the end of the 2006-07 season when Paul Fairclough decided to give him an opportunity.
Stein recalls: "I was so nervous before my first game. Within two minutes
Ian Hendon was elbowed and I was involved. That was when my new job really sank in".
