BEES SHIRT FOR OLIVER'S FUNERAL
Posted on: Fri 19 Sep 2008
The last No 8 shirt worn by Oliver Kingonzila as Barnet U-18 captain has been handed over to his mother for the funeral service.
Mrs Caroline Kingonzila, who has requested donations to a charity of her choice rather than flowers, asked PROTEC's Peter Edwards for the shirt her 19-year-old son wore in his last appearance and he has sent it to her.
T-shirts showing the PROTEC youngster in Barnet colours will be worn by many mourners. The date of the funeral is not yet known as Oliver's body has not yet been released by the police. Any messages of condolence from supporters will forwarded to the Kingonzila family via Barnet FC.
Oliver, who was suffering from a knee injury, recently started studies at a college in Croydon, where he lived, after two years with PROTEC at Southgate. He was due to join the Barnet U-19s when he was fit.
Oliver, who has trained with the Bees' first team squad, played for the club in the Herts Senior Cup. The players will observe a minute's silence before the home game against Bury tomorrow and will wear black armbands.
Match statistics: Bury have never won at Underhill ... but are unbeaten in League 2 since Barnet beat them 3-0 in April.
