BRIAN GOYMER DIES SUDDENLY

Posted on: Sat 27 Dec 2008

Brian Goymer, Barnet's goalkeeper in the 1959 FA Amateur Cup Final against Crook Town at Wembley, died suddenly last weekend at the age of 69.

He played nearly 400 games for the Bees from the late Fifties into the Sixties and was still a regular visitor at games with his brother Michael.
He was a guest of the club as a legendary figure from the past during the club's celebrations of 100 years at Underhill. He also managed Winchmore Hill for a time.

Michael Goymer also played for the Bees as a goalkeeper at the same time, with one first team appearance to his credit, but mainly as a reserve or youth player.

Brian's funeral will be at New Southgate on December 30 at 1.30 p.m. Barnet FC extends sympathy to Brian's widow and their three children, David, Lorraine and Susan.
