HYDE BOUND FOR BARNET
Posted on: Thu 02 Jul 2009
Jake Hyde, a blond 6 - feet tall striker from Swindon Town, is set to sign for Barnet.
Hyde, who was 19 yesterday, trained with the Barnet squad when they reported back in the sweltering heat at Underhill today and the formalities are due to be completed in the next 48 hours.
Manager Ian Hendon said: "He impressed me when I saw him play last season, he will be a good addition to our squad".
Hyde said: "It will be a new experience for me - Barnet would be only the second club I've signed a contract with".
Hyde was one of nine youth team players who signed 18 month professional contracts with League 1 Swindon in February 2008. He later played on loan with Weymouth in the Blue Square Premier League.
The striker was wanted by Wycombe Wanderers early this year, but opted to stay with Swindon.
Hyde first came to the attention of Ian Hendon when he played in a behind-closed doors game against Grays Athletic. He was further impressed when he saw him in action for Swindon reserves while on scouting missions.
Hyde will be Hendon's first capture of the transfer window. His close season signings, Mark Hughes, Ismail Yakubu and Lee Harrison, were all with the club last season.
