CLIFF SET FOR DIAMONDS

Posted on: Fri 24 Jul 2009
Cliff Akurang, the 28-year-old striker Barnet signed from Blue Square Premier League Histon for an undisclosed fee in December 2007 when Liam Hatch moved to Peterborough United for £150,000, is joining Rusden & Diamonds on a season- long loan.

The 6ft 2ins tall Akurang - 10 goals in 33 starts and 16 substitute appearances for the Bees, will link up again with Max Porter at the Blue Square Premier outfit ... and with Nicky Nicolau, on trial there this week.

Akurang, a part-time player until he signed for Barnet, scored two goals in eight appearances on loan with Weymouth last season.

At Underhill, Akurang is in competition up front with top scorer John O'Flynn, newcomer Jake Hyde and Elliott Charles. Fellow striker Luke Medley has already gone on loan to Woking.
