An attempt to take 21-year-old Albert Adomah to Championship side Blackpool broke down two hours before the transfer window closed this afternoon.
Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous, who had already turned down a previous bid by them for the winger, rejected an improved offer from the Seasiders.
The chairman revealed that he had also turned down other offers for Adomah from Norwich City and Watford during the transfer window and had a number of enquiries from clubs who were monitoring his progress.
He said: "We want to help Albert progress in his career but any deal has to be right for both him and the club and at the moment this has not been the case.
He is a key member of our team and we are prepared to offer him an improved contract should he agree to stay, so we will sit down with Albert and his representatives in the next couple of weeks and see where we go from here".
It seems inevitable that interest in Adomah - who was also the subject of a big bid from a Championship club last summer - will resume in the next transfer window. Adomah, named yesterday by Ian Hendon for his team to play Millwall at Underhill, has scored 15 goals from outside right in 72 games since joining the Bees from Harrow Borough in 2007.
