Sierra Leone international left back Ahmed Deen, who has deputised for hamstring victim
Kenny Gillet in the last three unbeaten games, signed a two-year deal with Barnet after the final whistle of the 2-0 win against Millwall at Underhill last night.
The 24-year-old, who is a cousin of left winger and fellow Sierra Leone international Albert Jarrett, played 28 games for Macclesfield Town last season.
He has been with the Bees since the players returned for training at the beginning of July and accepted a short term deal a few weeks ago saying that he was confident he could get into the side and make a contribution.
Ian Hendon decided to offer him a new longer deal following Deen's displays after taking over in the back four when Gillet was injured in the 2-0 win against Morecambe.
Deen played a starring role in the 1-0 away win at Torquay United and the home victories against Notts County and Millwall. Hendon admitted last night that the displays of Deen and others who had come into the side because of injuries pose him selection problems with strong competition for places.
Ironic footnote: Deen collected one booking playing for Macclesfield --- against Barnet.
Apart from Deen and Jarrett, the Bees boast other internationals in Gary Breen (Republic of Ireland), skipper Micah Hyde (Jamaica) and Mark Hughes (Northern Ireland).
John O'Flynn has played for the Republic at U21 level, Ryan O'Neill for Northern Ireland U21s and Clovis Kamdjo for the Cameroon U17 side.
