BEES TRAVEL TO HAPPY VALLEY

Posted on: Sat 05 Sep 2009
Barnet.sitting proudly on top of League 2 after last night's comprehensive 3-1 win away to Northampton Town that was cheered on by more than 500 travelling supporters, have been drawn away to Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The tie will be played on October 6 or 7.

Charlton are currently top of League 1, with an impressive 15 points from five wins out of five start to the season. Their team, including former Barnet Player of the Year Nicky Bailey, is expected to be different to the Charlton side that lost 2-0 at Underhill in a pre-season friendly to goals from Paul Furlong and A;lbert Adomah.

Ian Hendon, in Yorkshire to watch Rotherham, Bees' opponents on September 26, versus Chesterfield, commented: "A great draw. There will be a great atmosphere -- good for our supporters who, I must say, were fantastic last night at Northampton".

Hendon is taking a "busman's holiday" today to check the Rotherham pitch after some unfavourable comments.
