KEEN DEEN NETS A CONTRACT
Posted on: Tue 08 Sep 2009
Left back Ahmed Deen, who has yet to be on the losing side for Barnet, celebrated his new two year deal by scoring his first-ever goal for club or country in the 3-1 win away to Northampton Town.
The 24-year-old Sierra Leone international has made an impact with Bees' supporters since replacing the injured Kenny Gillet. He originally accepted a non-contract deal with the club as Ian Hendon worked on bringing in players to rebuild his squad.
"That's no problem", he told the manager. "I'll get my chance along the line and will have to take it". The gamble came off.
Hendon said today: "He has more than taken his chance and fully earned a full contract".
Deen, who has been capped 10 times by Sierra Leone in World Cup and African Nations Cup games, has played for Peterborough United, Aldershot Town, St Albans City and Macclesfield Town over the past five years without scoring a goal.
His equaliser at Northampton was worth waiting for.
