DEVERA AND GILLET IN CONTENTION

Posted on: Thu 24 Sep 2009
Joe Devera and Kenny Gillet, who lost their places in the first team through injury, could both get the nod for a recall in the League 2 match against Rotherham United on Saturday.

The full backs went on as substitutes for Ryan O'Neill and Ahmed Deen in the 2 - 2 draw with Bradford City last weekend - with manager Ian Hendon commenting that they had both impressed in the midweek friendly at Harlow.

Hendon, who said that there would be changes for the game against Rotherham, repeated the statement after training today. But he was not forthcoming about who is in and who is out.

"I have a fully fit squad and decisions to make", he said. "Joe and Kenny are in contention - and so is Daniel Leach after injury".

Add Paul Furlong, available after his one-match ban, the sight of yet-to-play Gary Breen training and a wait to see if Albert Adomah is going to be OK after his broken nose was reset this week ... it's very much a guessing game until the team is announced just before kick-off at the Don Stadium.

"It's a big game", said Hendon. "It's third v fourth ... these are the games we live for and want to be involved in throughout the season.

"I've set my standards high - the bar has been raised -- and I know where I want to be at the end of the season, and the lads do too".

Hendon can be heard discussing the season so far on the Football League Weekend programme on Sky Sports 2 at 6.00pm and discussing his team

Paul Furlong, 41 next week and four years older than his manager, talks about his continuing enthusiasm for the game and tells how he gave up a 9-5 job and part-time football with Enfield to join Coventry City. He scored with his first touch against Luton Town.

He's still on target for the Bees. I am glad he is "in contention" for Rotherham!
