CLOVIS OPERATED ON

Posted on: Fri 20 Nov 2009
Clovis Kamdjo undergoes surgery on Friday after rupturing medial collateral ligaments and suffering cartilage damage in a block tackle against Hereford United.

The shock news that the 18-year-old former Reading youth captain joins Gary Breen, Joe Devera and Ryan O'Neill on physio Mark Stein's long term injuries list came as Ian Hendon prepared his side for Saturday's League 2 game at Underhill against Port Vale.

The Cameroon U17 international, already being noted as a candidate for Barnet's Young Player of the season award, has made seven first team starts and two games as substitute since signing this season. He deputised for Breen in the 0-0 draw against Hereford.

Daniel Leach is the only central defender left to partner ever-present Ismail Yakubu in a depleted defence that has only conceded four goals in 10 unbeaten games at Underhill this season.

Breen has partial torn medial ligaments and, although he says that he is a quick healer, could be out until Christmas. Both right backs, Joe Devera (thigh) and Ryan O'Neill (left ankle) are rated long term injuries.

Loan transfers are only available until next Thursday but, despite speculation about a big name loan signing, Ian Hendon has been studying possible recruits for January but has nothing definite lined up. The current defensive injuries may have caused a rethink of his priorities.
