Shock news for the Bees. Jake Cole, ever-present in the Barnet side this season, is "touch and go" for the League 2 away game against Accrington Stanley this weekend.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper collected a groin injury 20 minutes from the end of the 2-1 home defeat by Crewe Alexandra and, after examination by the club doctor, spent the weekend resting and applying regular ice packs.

Cole, a hero for the Bees in many of his 27 consecutive games following his signing from Queens Park Rangers in the summer - adding to the 10 he played on loan last season -, has proved one of manager Ian Hendon's best signings.

The manager said this afternoon: "I will watch him and assess the situation for the next couple of days but, looking at it at the moment; I would say that he is touch and go for the weekend".

Hendon's options are Phil Carpenter, the former PROTEC keeper who has been on the bench but has never played a League game, 38-year-old first team coach Lee Harrison, who has made 358 appearances for the Bees but has not played for months, and former Hendon goalkeeper Will Viner, also without League experience.

One piece of good news for Hendon is that Joe Devera resumed training today after being out with a thigh injury and is in contention for a return to the side at Accrington. Fellow right back Ryan O'Neill resumed training last week after a left ankle injury but is still way off the fitness pace.

Albert Adomah, who pulled out of Saturday's game against Crewe 90 minutes from kick-off after telling manager Hendon that he was not fit after limping off at Bury with an ankle injury, trained today. The manager had to readjust his formation at the 11th hour.
