Calum Butcher, the 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur central defender who has played three times for Barnet in the past month, has had his loan period extended "while the injury problems at the back continue".

The 6ft 1ins Butcher signed his first professional contract with Spurs in April after being an U18 regular and playing for the reserves and being on the first team bench for a UEFA Cup tie against the Russian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

With Gary Breen and Clovis Kamdjo still listed as long term injuries, Butcher looks likely to play in the Bees' defence in their away match against Aldershot Town on Boxing Day.
