O'FLYNN TURNS DOWN £100k MOVE TO SHREWS
Posted on: Fri 05 Feb 2010
Top scorer John O'Flynn has rejected a £100,000 move to Shrewsbury Town that would have brought a striker to Underhill in return.
O'Flynn, who has turned down the offer of an improved contract and will be free to leave at the end of the season, said "No" to the move to Barnet's League 2 rivals agreed by the clubs.
When efforts were made to resurrect the deal at the weekend, the 27-year-old Irishman repeated that he did not want to join Shrewsbury.
O'Flynn, who missed the first five games of the season because of a foot injury picked up in training, has scored 10 goals in 23 starts and five substitute appearances but has not scored since the end of November.
Ian Hendon made it clear last week that it was unlikely that anyone would be joining the squad before the close of the transfer window this afternoon unless someone left. The window closed at 5.00pm with no-one in and no-one out.
Hendon, who brought in experienced left back Matt Lockwood and former Chelsea youngster Lee Sawyer last month, has made several other efforts to strengthen the squad.
