Former Millwall captain David Livermore, a 29-year-old combative midfielder or defender, has signed for Barnet after being released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

The one-time Arsenal trainee, who was sold to Millwall for £30,000, captained the Lions and made 273 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2006. He was in the Millwall side that lost to Manchester United in the 2004 FA Cup Final.

Livermore, a North Londoner, was sold to Leeds United for £400,000 in the summer of 2006, but was quickly moved on to Hull City as the Yorkshire club had signed two other players in similar position to him.

He joined Brighton in June 2008 and had eight games on loan with Luton Town last season after signing in March.

Ian Hendon said today: "He is an experienced utility player who can give us cover in many positions in midfield or defence".
