BEES AIM TO BE "MORE RESILIENT"

Posted on: Fri 19 Feb 2010
Ian Hendon is urging his squad to be "more resilient" on their travels as they prepare to visit Port Vale in a League 2 game tomorrow after 10 consecutive away defeats.

Ismail Yakubu's continuing back problem looks like making him miss out tomorrow but Joe Devera, who Hendon rates as a central defender rather than a right back, has been in outstanding form alongside Gary Breen in central defence in recent games.

Northern Ireland international midfielder Mark Hughes completes a two-match ban this weekend. Although the practice match against Dagenham & Redbridge to help Clovis Kamdjo back to match fitness was called off in midweek because of torrential rain, the 18-year-old central defender is again named in Hendon's squad. He was an unused substitute against Cheltenham Town last weekend.

After that match Hendon told the Press conference that Barnet should not close the door on a top half, even play-off, finish.

"You never know if we can put a run together", he said.

Starting with a game at Port Vale and another away fixture at AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Footnote: Hendon travelled North later today to watch Bury, the Bees' opponents next weekend at Underhill, against Shrewsbury Town.
