MINUTES SILENCE FOR KEITH

Posted on: Wed 10 Mar 2010
There will be a minute's silence at Underhill on Saturday before Barnet's League 2 match against Accrington Stanley and the players will wear black armbands in memory of Keith Alexander.

The Macclesfield Town manager, who died at the age of 53 after returning to his home in Lincoln from a midweek game away to Notts County, played for the Bees between 1986-88.

Although Barnet was one of 23 clubs he played for - he later managed five - he is fondly remembered by older supporters at Underhill and tributes have flooded in.

Keith, a footballer who became a role model for black managers, played international football for St Lucia.

He led Lincoln City to four successive play-off finals and the Imps will be opening a special "neutral zone" for supporters of any club wanting to pay respects to Keith before Friday evening's home League 2 game against Hereford United.

A giant screen will be installed and some memorable moments from Keith's career will be broadcast.

Keith's funeral will be at Lincoln Cathedral next Monday at 2 p.m.
