FURLONG'S CONTRIBUTION IS MASSIVE

Posted on: Fri 09 Apr 2010
Evergreen Paul Furlong has made "a massive contribution" to the Barnet team in the past 15 months, Ian Hendon said today.

"Paul plays as an old-fashioned centre forward and it is good to see", said the manager. "I know that opposing defenders do not relish playing against him and John O'Flynn would be one of the first to saythat Paul has made many opportunities for him".

The top scoring Irishman has missed the last three games with a knee injury and Hendon said that the form and the goals scored by Furlong and 19-year-old Jake Hyde in his absence against Chesterfield gave him a selection problem.

The 41-year-old Furlong joined the Bees on loan from Southend United in January 2009. When he delayed accepting a new deal last summer Hendon was under pressure from supporters to sign him.
