John Motson, OBE, Barnet's No 1 celebrity supporter, will be at Underhill on Saturday with seven of his friends rooting for the Bees as they battle for League 2 survival against promoted Rochdale.
Little did he guess when he booked to attend that this would be the most important match for years for his team. Motty, who has sponsored
Albert Adomah this season, will be proudly wearing his Barnet tie in support of his favourite club ... the club he reported on when he began his journalistic career with the Barnet Press.
The TV football commentator will be back at Underhill for a game he describes as "very tense and significant in the history of Barnet FC". He told
www.barnetfc.com today: "I heed the words of Paul Fairclough that the crowd has a vital 12th man role to play - let's unite for the 90 minutes to encourage and back the 'Barnet Aces' in their bid to ensure Football League status".
Motty has always stood up to be counted as a fan of the Bees - he acknowledges his allegiance on the internet - and has mentioned the club name consistently in his comments from big games around the world.
Let's hope that Motty is the other side of a TV camera on Saturday,
Albert Adomah shirt in hand, telling the country "the lads done good!"
