FOOTBALL EDUCATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED

Barnet FC launch 16 - 18 Football Education Programme in partnership with Stanmore College

Barnet FC in partnership with Stanmore College are delighted to be launching a new Football-Education Programme for 16-18 year olds. The programme will run alongside the current Apprenticeship Programme and will offer a fantastic opportunity for aspiring young players to earn themselves a full apprenticeship and in the future a possible contract at Barnet FC.

The Centre of Excellence have had a hugely successful 1st year, with two players (Mauro Vilhete and Reece Yorke) signing professional contract with the club. This programme looks to expand upon the provision offered for 16 to 18 year olds at the club and is open to any players who feel they have the ability and desire to become a professional footballer. Players will train full time with Barnet FC whilst also continuing their education at Stanmore College.
Jeremy Steele, Head of Youth Development is excited about the new programme. "So many players get released from professional clubs at the age of 16 and fall out of the system. Some players who have never been picked up by pro clubs mature later down the line. This programme will give players who fall into these two categories the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions and potential".
An Open Evening to explain the programme fully and answer any questions will be held on Thursday May 13th at 6.30pm at The Hive, Barnet FC's fabulous new Training Ground in Camrose Avenue, Edgware HA8 6AG.

There will be presentations from representatives of Stanmore College who will highlight the many benefits and the flexibility of options catered for at the College. The evening will also see a presentation from Jeremy Steele, who will explain the opportunities for successful candidates.

Following the Open Evening, there will be a Football Trial Day towards the end of May (details of the Trial Day will be given during the evening).

Successful candidates will benefit from the following:

• Being registered as a Barnet FC player (non-contract)
• Training full-time at the new state of the art Training Ground, with access to all support services including gym and medical staff and facilities.
• Receiving first class coaching from UEFA qualified Barnet FC coaching staff - alongside the Barnet FC Scholars
• Participate in competitive fixtures including the opportunity, if performance warrant it, to play with the Youth Team in Football League and FA Youth Team games programme
• A fabulous Educational learning environment at Stanmore College - who work hard with every student and demand the very highest standards to achieve the very highest grades.
• Ease of travel and accessibility between Stanmore College and The Hive Training Ground.
