BEES SIGN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER
Glen Southam, a 6-foot tall experienced attacking midfielder who played a leading role in Dagenham and Redbridge winning promotion to the Football League in 2007, was announced as Mark Stimson's second signing this afternoon.
"He has lots of energy and an eye for a goal", said Mark Stimson. "After talking to him, I get the feeling he couldn't wait to get back to playing in the Football League".
The 29-year-old Southam, signed by Dagenham from Bishop's Stortford for £20,000 in 2008, played 201 games for John Still's side and scored 24 goals. He was three times Player of the Year for Bishop's Stortford between 2000-04 and scored 27 goals in his 124 appearances for the club.
The England C international - he made 13 appearances for Paul Fairclough's side - played 17 games for Blue Square Premier League Histon last season after signing an 18-month contract on transfer deadline day in January. A mutual termination of the contract was agree at the end of the season because of "financial troubles".
Southam began his career as a non-contract player at Fulham while he was with Enfield. He has also played for Hereford United.
He signed on the dotted line on Friday, but today's announcement was delayed until he had a medical at The Hive.
