The 6ft 2ins tall defender is the first British Asian to captain a side in the top four divisions. He was born and raised in Whitechapel with a Bangladeshi father and an English mother. He is the only person of Bangladeshi origin to play pro football in England. He and his partner Emma have a 16-months boy called Jayden.
Uddin was in West Ham United's victorious FA Youth Cup winning squad in 1999 and then played for Bristol Rovers - alongside Guiliano Grazioli - before John Still took him to Dagenham. His Daggers team-mate Glen Southam - he also made 200-plus appearances for John Still's side - signed for the Bees last week.
Injuries early last season restricted Uddin's appearances for Dagenham --- his last start for the side , ironicwas against Barnet in the 4-1 Dagenham win at Victoria Road in April.
