Lawrie Sanchez reacted to the boos and calls for his dismissal after the 6-3 home defeat by Burton Albion by telling a Press conference: "I fully understand the fans ... I hold my hands up ... if I was a fan I would be shouting myself ... ultimately as manager I am responsible for that shambles and that is a performance today that a lot of clubs change managers on".
In a lengthy interview with BBC London's Emma Jones, Sanchez denied that he was expecting the sack after he had used the expression:"Whoever comes or whoever is in charge on Monday morning will have to change it".
Asked by the radio reporter at the outset what had gone wrong he gave a two word reply ... "shambolic defending".
Sanchez, who took off central defender
Daniel Leach after 38 minutes and brought on winger
Mark Marshall, said: "That defending was not good enough for League 2. I can't find two in the centre half positions that work - new players need to be brought in".
The manager said that he had inherited most of the squad so; whoever came in or whatever happened from now on, the personnel needed changing.
"I'd like to think the chairman has been around the game long enough to think I can be the man for the job", he said.
At one stage he firmly declared: "We won't be in the Conference"
Other points from the manager's newspaper interviews after
Barnet Player had finished:-
The current decline after a bright start to the season stemmed from the second half of the 4-2 defeat at Bradford City. Since then the side had reverted to last season's form.
On one hand Barnet FC "owed" him for saving the club from relegation.
Barnet could have scored six against Burton
He said he needed to get "one or two" players out to create money for newcomers.
