Barnet are still in search of their second home victory of the season as Dagenham & Redbridge equalised in the second half to cancel out John O'Flynn's 13th minute strike.

Kenny Gillet wore the captain's armband for the first time since being appointed as Barnet's skipper.

Joe Devera returned at right-back after an absence of ten matches but a groin strain ruled out Gary Breen. Michael Townsend who had recovered from a bug partnered Ismail Yakubu in central defence with Neal Bishop winning his place back in midfield at the expense of the injured Abu Ogogo.

In a breakaway move Albert Adomah fed the ball into O'Flynn and the ex-Cork striker manoeuvred the ball onto his left foot and struck a shot from outside the penalty area which deceived Tony Roberts in the Daggers goal who was beaten at his near post.

In the rest of the first-half the visitors' wingers, Sam Saunders and Matt Ritchie, were causing the home side some difficulties with their willingness to get in early crosses, but despite their direct style, Ran Kadoch in the Barnet goal was rarely troubled.

During the half-time interval Ian Hendon had decided to substitute Michael Leary who had been cautioned earlier. With Leary in the shower Yakubu announced that he was unfit to continue, necessitating the midfielder to put back his kit on and assume the role of a central defender in the second half.

Saunders, Scott Griffiths and Glen Southam had strikes on goal for the Daggers but their efforts were wayward.

For Barnet Adomah was causing havoc when he ran with the ball at pace and O'Flynn and Paul Furlong could have extended Barnet's advantage.

In the 65th minute Kadoch failed to hold the ball and as it bounced free Mark Nwokeji took full advantage and lashed the ball into the back of the net.

Just eight minutes later matters were to worsen for the Bees when Leary received a second yellow card for a full-blooded challenge. Leary expressed surprise at the sight of the red card, but the Bees now had to play with ten men for almost a quarter of the game.

Ian Hendon now moved Bishop back to right back with Devera moving into the middle. O'Flynn slotted into a slightly withdrawn role and the adjustments had the effect of limiting Dagenham's advantage.

Both teams could argue that had circumstances played out slightly differently the points could have gone their way; a possible indication that a draw was a fair result.

Townsend was cautioned for the fifth time and is now automaticly suspended for one match. The red card for Leary, when added to injury doubts concerning Breen and Yakubu gives Ian Hendon a headache when it comes to selecting his centre-backs next week.

Post match Ian Hendon certainly did not rule out the possibility of a loan signing to bridge the gap.

Undefeated at home in 2009 was his post match verdict but Ian Hendon himself is fully aware the victories are what are required to move the club up the table. In the final analysis a point has been added to Barnet's tally and when the figures are all added up perhaps this point will be significant.
