Having played for 80 minutes a man light, a draw away from home might ultimately be regarded as a point won rather than a victory spurned, but there is no doubting that Barnet started brightly and by scoring in the 6th minutes the Bees had begun to build a platform for a possible, and much needed, three points.

Stout defending all over the pitch earned the Bees the draw and Barnet did construct a number of breakaways that could have led to a winning goal.

Ian Hendon chose to start with Joe Tabiri in central midfield, partnering Neal Bishop and for Joe Devera to play in central defence alongside Gary Breen with Max Porter at right back.

Barnet took their lead when an alert Tommy Black took a quick free kick on the right which set up Albert Adomah to deliver an inch perfect centre where Paul Furlong with a diving header scored his first in Barnet colours.

The goal duly prompting an outbreak of amber and black flag waving by the travelling Barnet contingent tucked away in the corner of the Fraser Eagle.

In the 13th minute Barnet's chances of winning were diminished when skipper Kenny Gillet was sent off for an ill-considered lunge on Chris Turner as the Accrington winger advanced down their right flank.

Tommy Black assumed the left back slot while Nicky Nicolau warmed up on the sidelines. Once Nicolau was on as a direct replacement for Gillet, O'Flynn, as he did last week, took up a position on the left somewhere between the midfield and the front line.

This ploy gave Barnet additional attacking options rather than adopting a 4-4-1 formation when down to 10 men, which often constantly sees the play coming back into your faces without any respite.

Black was the player sacrificed to make way for Nicolau, which was tough on the left sided midfield as he had started the game in a determined fashion.

Occasionally the home side did mount a dangerous attack but Devera and Breen held firm with Kadoch playing in a mature manner and commanding his area.

Kadoch was called upon from time to time and whilst he did not need to perform heroics he seemed to have successfully "moved on" from the error of last week.

The second half started with Stanley in the mood to seek an equaliser. It was a storm that the Bees almost looked to have weathered when 10 minutes into the half the home side drew level.

The Accrington winger Turner made good ground down the right and his near post cross was met by the predatory Paul Mullin who turned the ball goalwards.

The Barnet team's attitude was exemplified by Neal Bishop, again wearing the captain's armband, who repeatedly tracked back from midfield to put in tackles and challenges and alongside him Tabiri was working tirelessly in midfield, nullifying the Accrington threat and giving the simple ball when it was on.

Midway through the second period the ball fell to O'Flynn but his effort from outside the box was turned away by Kenny Arthur in the home goal, a definite chance for the Bees to have come out on top.

Yannick Bolasie was given a cameo role for the last five minutes and he eagerly skipped down the left on a couple of occasions which acted to relieve the pressure and indicate that he might well have something to offer during his loan spell.

Some satisfaction then in gleaning a point but there is no doubt that with a full complement of players on the pitch and being that Barnet had carved out a goal advantage three points could well have been added to the tally.

The Bees are at home to high flying Shrewsbury Town at Underhill on Tuesday night.
