A late late goal by substitute Jake Hyde condemned high-flying, big-spending Notts County to a one goal defeat at Underhill; all in front of Sven and Tord.
Manager Ian Hendon slightly re-shuffled his pack from the Torquay starting line-up, bringing back Daniel Leach and John O'Flynn, at the expense of Clovis Kamdjo and Jake Hyde, who both took up a place on the bench.
Notts County boss Ian McParland, in his post match press conference was at pains to point out that his side should have had a penalty following a challenge on his marauding right back Brendon Moloney in only the second minute.
Post match analysis of the dvd indicates that the offence, if indeed there was one, was some distance outside the box. Case closed.
Ex-Bee Neal Bishop, clearly focussed on doing well, had the occasional neat touch in central midfield, but was pushed back, further and further, until he was substituted in the second half.
In the eighth minute Bishop however did create an opening for Lee Hughes and the striker's shot was pushed up and over the bar by Jake Cole for a corner.
Ian Hendon forcibly made the point to his charges in the half time interval that he was looking for an improvement in the second period after a first half in which Notts were marginally on top.
In the 49th minute O'Flynn was through and in on the keeper, but his shot surprisingly flashed marginally wide of the target. It was a good opportunity.
Barnet were becoming more offensive with Albert Adomah getting more involved as he eagerly took the ball deep into enemy territory time and time again.
At the back Ismail Yakubu and Daniel Leach were straining sinews to ensure that County's attacks were constantly being repelled.
Ricky Ravenhill had a similar chance to O'Flynn's for Notts with only eight minutes remaining, but Cole kept his nerve and the best opportunity that County had of all three points was gone.
On 90 minutes Jake Hyde replaced O'Flynn and moments later the Bees would take a dramatic lead.
Paul Furlong chased the ball down in the outside left position, slipped his man, manoeuvred the ball onto his left foot and lofted the ball into the penalty area. There Micah Hyde got a touch, the ball fell to Hyde, who turned and hit a shot across Kasper Schmeichel for the ball to nestle in the bottom corner.
Jubilation for the Bees, heads in hands time for the inconsolable County contingent, Lee Hughes being a particularly unhappy bunny.
Table-topping Magpies deposed, the Bees next welcome the Lions from Millwall to Underhill this Tuesday in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
