Barnet had to settle for a solitary point against Torquay United despite taking a first half lead through an excellent effort from Lee Sawyer with the visitors dominating much of the second period, scoring their equalising goal with five minutes of normal time remaining.
From the Morecambe game Ismail Yakubu replaced Daniel Leach alongside Gary Breen and John O'Flynn was selected in preference to Jake Hyde and partnered Paul Furlong up front.
Yakubu had to leave the pitch as early as the fourth minute with a back spasm. The injury necessitated a visit to Barnet General Hospital, although the centre-back was allowed home later.
Ryan O'Neill then came on at right-back, with Joe Devera moving into the centre of the defence.
Albert Jarrett started brightly, supplying a constant stream of balls into the box, although there was not always a Barnet player in position when the cross was delivered.
The Bees however took the lead in the 14th minute when a cross from the right from O'Flynn was headed back into the six-yard box for Sawyer to hook a shot into the top corner. A picture book goal.
Both sides in the first half had spells in which they managed to master the conditions and retain the ball well.
Torquay were never out of the match, although a second goal for the Bees might have done for them, with an O'Flynn effort late in the first half possibly doubling the home side's advantage.
The second half then saw the Bees virtually encamped into their own half as the Gulls probed for an equaliser. After taking a knock in the first half Sawyer wasunable to continue for long in the second period and when he left the field his inventive forward passing was missed.
The Barnet defence looked more composed than of late. Breen got in a lot of important headed clearances and Joe Devera alongside him had good game.
The Bees were able to construct few attacks of note in the second half as Torquay held the upper hand.
On the balance of play a breakthrough was predictable, but it was galling that it should come as late as the 85th minute.
Tyrone Thomson delivered a corner from the right; it was partially cleared, only for the Torquay winger to regain possession of the ball. His cross was met by Scott Rendell, despite being pressured by Furlong, and the ball was glanced past Jake Cole.
Paul Buckle, the Torquay boss, later confirmed that Rendell has indeed got the last touch, although many observers, this one included, that that it might have been an own goal.
A point has been added to Barnet's total, but the way in which the visitors were able to control large periods of the game will no doubt exercise the minds of the manager and his coaches later this week.
The Bees are at Notts County this Saturday.
