Barnet and Burton Albion saw out a 1-1 draw at Underhill with the Bees drawing level as half-time approached after a first 45 minutes in which the visitors held the upper hand.
Manager Ian Hendon kept faith in the 4-3-3 formation which has served the Bees well in recent away matches, although John O'Flynn who sustained a knee injury at Darlington was unable to continue as the focal point of the attack, Paul Furlong taking over the top-scorer's role.
On five minutes Gary Breen had an effort on goal, but Burton responded strongly with Shaun Harrod and John McGrath both having reasonable attempts at breaking the deadlock.
On 18 minutes the visitors took the lead with ex-Bee Greg Pearson being able to lob the lob the ball over the advancing Jake Cole. A cool finish.
The Bees drew level through Mark Hughes, just as half-time beckoned. A Furlong header brought a fine save out of Artur Krysiak, but in the resulting melee Hughes was on hand to drive the ball low into the net.
Jake Cole again looked commanding between the sticks whenever Albion advanced towards him and when you add the fact that Burton's strikes on goal were often hurried and wayward it was no surprise that they couldn't add to their goal tally for the afternoon.
Late on Barnet introduced Ben Wright to partner Furlong in attack, as the Bees reverted to a 4-4-2 formation, in an attempt to land a home victory, but the Brewers held firm.
Ed Upson was a late substitute in midfield and looked calm and composed on the ball despite the helter-skelter going on around him.
Some way short of a classic, the match was most notable for Barnet adding a point to their tally and the promise that the ball-playing midfielder Upson displayed.
The Bees play Accrington in Accrington on Tuesday.
