The longest serving player in the current Barnet squad by some way, Ismail signed professional forms with the club aged just 16 and made his first-team debut at the age of 17, despite his A-level studies meaning he had to miss some games. A strong, domineering centre-back, Ismail was given then captaincy by Fairclough but decided to relinquish it mid-way through last season. League 2 Player of the Month for August 2009.
